How to use verb + -ING

  • Use verb + -ING after like, love, hate & don’t mind.

e.g. I love going out.

She likes shopping.

We hate doing homework.

I don’t mind (do not mind) going to the cinema.

  • Spelling rules for -ING form.

Infinitive /  Verb + ING /  Spelling

cook           / I like cooking. / add – ING.

study         / She loves studying / add -ING.

dance        / I don’t mind dancing / You take the ‘E’ and add -ING.

shop          / I don’t like shopping  / One vowel+one consonant = double consonant + ING.
